What is a birth chart?
A birth chart, or natal chart, is a map of where the Sun, Moon, and planets were in the zodiac at the moment and place you were born, as seen from Earth. Astrologers read it as a symbolic picture: signs describe styles, houses describe areas of life, and the angles between planets describe how those themes interact. Calculating one needs your birth date, time, and city.
Can I get my birth chart for free?

How accurate are online birth chart calculators?
Planetary positions are well understood astronomy, so calculators built on a good ephemeris agree closely. Most differences come from inputs and settings: a wrong birth time, AM and PM mixed up, a historical time zone handled incorrectly, or a different house system or zodiac. LunarOtter resolves the historical time zone for your city and date, checks its engine against NASA/JPL Horizons data, and publishes its method.
Is astrology scientifically proven?
No. Astrology is not an established science, and LunarOtter does not claim that a chart predicts events or measures personality. The astronomy in a chart is real: positions are calculated from actual planetary motion. The meanings attached to those positions come from astrological tradition, which many people use as a vocabulary for reflection. We keep those two kinds of claims separate.
What do I need to calculate my birth chart?
Three things: your birth date, your local birth time, and the city where you were born. The date sets the Sun sign and most planet positions. The time and city set the rising sign, the houses, and sometimes the Moon sign. If you know only an approximate time, enter a window such as plus or minus 30 minutes, and the calculator checks whether the result stays the same across it.
What can I see for free?

What if I do not know my birth time?
Choose “I don’t know.” We check the whole local day and show the Sun and Moon information it supports. We do not invent a rising sign or houses, and do not offer the complete reading for purchase without supported details.
